A Coruña commemorates this weekend the 25th anniversary of Real Club Deportivo’s League title with the two central events of the ‘The best thing that happened to me in life’ program. Organized by the platform of the same name and with the support of the City Council, this initiative seeks to highlight the historical milestone that title represented, unprecedented in Galicia.
This Friday 23, a talk-screening will be held at the Auditorium of the Ágora Sociocultural Center and the presentation of the book ‘The best thing that happened to me in life’. It is a unique meeting with players, directors, club workers, and fans who will share in first person the memories and emotions of the title season. The event will start at 7:00 p.m. and all tickets sold out in a few hours. In case there are empty seats, access will be allowed on a first-come, first-served basis until the auditorium reaches full capacity.
During this event, the book «The best thing that happened to me in life» will also be presented, a compilation of stories from players like Scaloni, Djalminha, Makaay, or Fran; journalists like Óscar Benito, Moncho Viña, or Nacho Carretero; or an interview with Guillermo, from the group La Mosca Tsé-Tsé, who recount how they experienced this historic milestone.
The central event, on Saturday 24 at Riazor
The central event of this celebration will take place on Saturday 24 starting at 12:00 p.m. at the esplanade of the Palacio de los Deportes de Riazor, with a sports day where there will be octopus, food trucks, traditional games for children, table football tournament, monologues, exclusive material… additionally, humor and sportsmanship will come together on this occasion with Roi da Costa and the ‘Depor Locura’ show. During the day, sports fans will have the opportunity to take photos with the replica of the League Cup, loaned for the occasion by the club.
The grand finale of the week will feature the stellar performance of La Mosca Tsé-Tsé (starting at 10:00 p.m.), interpreters of the spontaneous anthem of the league celebration: «Yo te quiero dar», which will sound again in the city 25 years later. Along with them, a lineup entirely formed by sporty artists, proud of their belonging to the white-and-blue family: Orquesta Bravú Xangai, La Banda del Camión, Mar de Fondo, Kike Varela, and La Yaya DJ.
