Pazos is engaged in a conversation with representatives of the other groups to convey the willingness of the PPdeG to try to «reach a consensus on the profile»
The parliamentary groups represented in the hemicycle of the Pazo do Hórreo have started contacts on Tuesday to choose the person who will lead the new CRTVG –the Corporación de Servizos Audiovisuais de Galicia (CSAG), under which the regional public media are housed–.
Sources consulted by Europa Press have confirmed that in the last meeting of the Parliament’s Mesa, the governing body of the regional Chamber, it was agreed to set May 13 as the deadline to propose candidates. But contacts have already started before that.
Precisely, this Tuesday, the PPdeG has reported that its parliamentary spokesperson, Alberto Pazos, has held a first contact in the Parliament of Galicia with representatives of the opposition groups to specify aspects about the professional profile of the candidate for the General Directorate of the entity. All this after the Popular Group requested the start of the procedure for its election on Monday.
According to the PPdeG, Alberto Pazos has conveyed the willingness of the Popular Group to reach a consensus with the opposition groups on the profile of the person who will take over the management, following «the same spirit that was maintained during the processing of the recently approved Law on services of the public audiovisual media of Galicia for the digital society».
In particular, as they have indicated, Pazos has advocated that the choice of this person should be based on principles such as experience, knowledge of the audiovisual sector, and professional worth.
In any case, when the time comes and if there is no agreement, the new law regulating public media would allow their new director to be ratified with only the absolute majority of the Popular Party.
INFORMAL CONVERSATION
On the other hand, sources from the BNG consulted by Europa Press have explained that it was an «informal» conversation after the vote on the bill that the nationalist party defended in the Chamber on Tuesday.
These sources have indicated that they were informed of the willingness to discuss the profile that the person who will hold this position should have, but no names were discussed, it was just a discussion.
In this regard, the BNG has emphasized its willingness to agree on a «reliable» professional profile, which will allow «opening a new time» in the public media of Galicia, but considers that the process «does not start in the best way» when the PP chose to unilaterally approve the law that lowers the majority to choose this position.
AGREEING ON A NAME, «MORE DIFFICULT»
On the other hand, sources from the PSdeG have indicated that in the meeting they were informed of the intention to «reach a consensus on the profile,» considering that agreeing on a name «is already known to be more difficult.»
The deputy of Democracia Ourensana (D.O.), Armando Ojea, has confirmed to Europa Press that Pazos conveyed to them that the Popular Party’s intention is to reach a certain consensus on the characteristics that the chosen person should have to replace Alfonso Sánchez Izquierdo.
On his part, he indicated that he had already communicated to the Popular spokesperson what would be the ideal profile in the view of the party led by Gonzalo Pérez Jácome: a person «with studies in Information Sciences and experience.» He also believes that it would be positive for them to have knowledge in all or at least some of these areas: public administration, law, and business.
