The Local Government Board approved this morning the agreement signed with the City of Arteixo two weeks ago, when a joint collaboration framework was agreed upon, allowing both councils to work with a shared planning in terms of territory and actions that will have a positive impact on both A Coruña and the municipality of Arteixo.
«As we already mentioned at the signing of the collaboration protocol, both Mayor Carlos Calvelo and I see it necessary to strengthen the collaboration between the city and the municipalities in the metropolitan area because, regardless of what the maps or geography indicate, both A Coruña and the nearby municipalities share synergies in economic, demographic, and social matters, as well as in terms of transportation and mobility,» reasoned the Mayor, Inés Rey.
Furthermore, as reported days ago, the agreement establishes the possibility for Arteixo and A Coruña to jointly apply for European funding calls, a measure that both parties see as beneficial to co-finance actions that could have a positive impact on both municipalities.

However, as we outlined when presenting the Municipal Budgets, we plan to make a significant effort in the medium term to renovate our museums, heritage spaces of high value for the cultural and educational fabric of the city. In the case of the aquarium, last year we completed the expansion and improvement works of the seal sanatorium, and step by step, we are addressing the needs also detected in the Domus and the House of Sciences, where various works are underway to waterproof the building’s domes,» detailed Inés Rey.
