Next week, the Council will start the works to renovate the pavement of Manuel Murguía street and Habana avenue, both in the vicinity of the municipal stadium of Riazor. The intervention will significantly improve the road surface over an area of more than 12,500 square meters.
The Council’s Councillor for Infrastructure and Mobility, Noemí Díaz, stated today that, as they recently did in the vicinity of Ourense square, Porto avenue, and Linares Rivas, «we are working in areas of the city where pavement erosion is more accelerated, usually due to being heavily trafficked areas.»
The works in Riazor will begin on Manuel Murguía. It is expected to start on Wednesday, the 25th during daytime, provided that the weather forecast is favorable for the asphalt works.
The Council’s investment in this project is over 300,000 euros.
Mid-July will see a new round of works on San Xoán street
The intervention plan scheduled by Mayor Inés Rey’s Government to renew the pavement on municipal roads will continue in mid-July. Noemí Díaz announced today that the Council’s intention is to carry out the planned improvements on San Xoán street and the surroundings of España square.
The Councillor explained that, «the pavement renewal on San Xoán street was already on the table, but with the imminent celebration of the San Xoán festivity, we believe the best time to execute the works will be afterwards.» Díaz reasoned that by scheduling the works for mid-July, «we reduce, as much as possible, the impact on the usual development of the hospitality sector in the area.»
In 2025, over 1.7 million invested in A Coruña’s roads
With these new interventions planned for Manuel Murguía and Habana avenue, the Council has already exceeded 1.7 million in investments to renew the pavement of municipal roads so far this year.
Throughout 2025, works have been carried out along the Paseo Marítimo – Pedro Barrié de la Maza and the surroundings of Lagoas, Metrosidero avenue and Ánimas, Paxariñas roundabout, as well as Catro Camiños, various points in Agrela, Linares Rivas, and Ourense square.
Additionally, work is also being done these days in the residential area of Silva, where the Council is paving access from Benela street.
