O Concello undertakes works to renew the pavement in more than 20,000 square meters of surface on the municipal roads of Agrela, a measure that is part of the commitments made by the Government of Inés Rey with the Association of Entrepreneurs of the A Coruña industrial estate.
The Councilor for Infrastructure and Mobility, Noemí Díaz, pointed out that «the planned actions will start, in all likelihood, next week,» as long as the weather conditions are favorable for the tasks to be carried out along Severo Ochoa, Galileo Galilei, and José María Rivera Corral streets.
Díaz emphasized the importance of this intervention, as Severo Ochoa is one of the main traffic arteries of the industrial estate and, together with Galileo Galilei and José María Rivera Corral, «supports a good part of the heavy traffic flows passing through Agrela.» In total, the Council will renew 14,500 square meters of pavement on Severo Ochoa and another 7,500 between Galileo Galilei and José María Rivera Corral.
In addition, the Council will complement the pavement renewal with the elevation of an existing pedestrian crossing in the central stretch of Galileo Galilei, «a measure that, due to the habitual pedestrian mobility flows in this sector of the street, is necessary to facilitate the transit of pedestrians and, at the same time, contribute to the pacification of the traffic that goes up and down Galileo Galilei.»
The investment planned to carry out all these actions is 188,000 euros.
Progress in the construction of roundabouts with Avenida de Fisterra
The improvement plan planned by the Government of Inés Rey in the Agrela industrial estate and its surroundings also includes the construction of a new roundabout between Avenida de Fisterra and Gutenberg Street, with the aim of improving mobility and reinforcing road safety.
As already reported by the Council in mid-March, the works are underway and, in this way, they continue the actions proposed by the Council between Ventorrillo, Silva, and Agrela, where the new roundabout with Gambrinus Street is already open, twin to the one being executed at the intersection with Gutenberg.
The investment planned for the construction of both roundabouts is 785,000 euros, an amount co-financed with European Next Generation funds.
