The spokesperson of the Popular Group in Congress has accused the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, of «going to China» to «put miles between himself» and the «corruption surrounding» his government, and has urged him to call for elections.
«We ask Sánchez to acknowledge his weakness and give the Spanish people back their voice. Enough is enough, we have reached the limit,» said the PP leader, who believes that «there are not enough miles to escape from the garbage that shakes and surrounds Pedro Sánchez’s government.»
Tellado addressed the media this Saturday in the municipality of Culleredo, A Coruña, a town he visited along with the provincial president of the PP and the Xunta de Galicia’s councilor for the presidency, Diego Calvo, and the local spokesperson for the party, Izaskun García.
During the event, the popular leader considered that Spain is going through «an extremely complex political moment.» «And proof of this is that we have a president who has boarded the Falcon and doesn’t know when to get off,» he stated.
In this sense, he argued that this week «Sánchez had to go to China and put miles between himself to avoid the serious political situation the country is going through.» Thus, he explained that while he was visiting Vietnam and China, the UCO of the Civil Guard «certified in a report the maneuvers» of his wife, Begoña Gómez, and the former Minister of Development, José Luis Ábalos, «to obtain the rescue of Air Europa.»
All this, he pointed out, happened in the «same week» when «the lamentable antics of the Minister of Development in a Parador with vans of prostitutes traveling from Valencia to Teruel for a festive day» were known. These events, he indicated, «occurred when all Spaniards were locked in their homes amidst a serious pandemic.»
«We have a government that from minute zero has been dedicated to corruption and to what an administration should not be dedicated to,» said Tellado, who accused Minister Pilar Alegría of labeling the digital outlet that released information about Ábalos as a «pseudo media,» only to «less than 24 hours later confirm that those events were true» and that «she had been in the same parador on that lamentable day.»
«It shows that she is not the spokesperson minister because of how well she speaks, but because of how much she stays silent. And that must have been the carte blanche that has allowed her to be a minister of the Government of Spain at this time,» he said.
In light of this, Tellado considered that «corruption is closing in on Pedro Sánchez’s government,» which he sees as «escaped and in permanent flight.» «And Spain, our democracy, does not deserve this,» he stated, urging the President of the Government «to land, to give explanations, and to return the voice to the Spanish people.»
«To call for elections and let the Spanish people decide if they want an unworthy government or if, on the contrary, they want to close this lamentable stage of our country’s political life to open a different stage with a government that is honest, honorable, and trustworthy,» he declared.
«WORST GOVERNMENT, AT THE WORST TIME»
The popular leader lamented that «at the worst time» Spain has «the worst government.» «At a time when Spain is facing a tariff war that is shaking the world, at a time when in Europe the Member States are being demanded to rebuild our armies, rebuild our national security and defense, we have the worst possible government,» he criticized.
Therefore, he asked Sánchez to «acknowledge his weakness,» to «recognize his responsibility, and to give the Spanish people back their voice.»
«It is unworthy, not even those who have voted for the PSOE deserve such unworthiness in the political life of our country,» he affirmed, ensuring that the PP «will continue to oppose as long as Sánchez does not call for elections.» «And that means asking the Government to be held accountable in Congress, to publicly account for everything that is happening, and to take the necessary measures for Spain to face the immediate challenges that are on the table in the best possible way,» he demanded.
Finally, he also lamented that in this context there is a «divided,» «broken» government that «does not have the parliamentary support to move forward.» «We have a government without budgets that operates with the extension of the extension of the budgets for the year 2023. We have a government that demonstrates its internal weakness every day, and certainly, we believe that Spain needs and deserves something better, and that something better cannot come from the hand of the Socialist Party of Pedro Sánchez,» he concluded.
