On this Monday, May 19, a new session of the Poetas Di(n)versos cycle will be celebrated, the penultimate of this edition. This program, directed by the National Poetry Award winner Yolanda Castaño, offers recitals by Galician and foreign poets every month at the auditorium of the Ágora Sociocultural Center. The session will start at 8:00 p.m. and admission will be free until capacity is reached. It will also be possible to follow it through the Poetas Di(n)versos YouTube channel.
«From the Government of Inés Rey, we continue to support a genuine and unique initiative at the Galician level that allows citizens to know and enjoy live performances by great names in poetry, both from the country and internationally,» points out Gonzalo Castro, Councilor for Culture and Tourism. On this occasion, the poet from Mariña Lugo Natalia Alonso and the Indian poet Subhro Bandopadhyay will participate.
Born in the north, specifically in Vilaronte, in the municipality of Foz in 1983, Natalia Alonso Ramos is a poet and journalist. She graduated in Journalism and holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication and Advertising. Currently, she works as a writer in the Communication Department of the University of Santiago de Compostela. In her literary facet, she won the poetry prize awarded by the Cultural Association O Facho with the work A síndrome de Hayworth (2019) and the third edition of Filomena Dato organized by the City Council of Bergondo with the work Advertencias para un traxecto boreal (2023).
In narrative, she won the second prize in the short story contest ‘Manuel Murguía’ organized by the City Council of Arteixo in 2022 with the work En directo, which will be published this year in the collection of stories A garza alucinada. Some of her poems have been published in magazines like the renowned Xistral or in collective works such as O libro das abellas (2024).
On the other hand, Subhro Bandopadhyay (pseudonym of Subhransu Banerjee) was born in Calcutta, India, in 1978. He studied Biology and Spanish Language at the university. He began publishing poetry in important Bengali magazines at a very young age. To date, he has published five poetry books in Bengali and, in Spanish translation, La ciudad leopardo (2010), Poemas metálicos (2014), and Sumar sal (2018).
He received the International Antonio Machado Poetry Creation Scholarship in 2008 and the National Award for Young Writers from the National Academy of Letters of India in 2013. His poems have been translated into diverse languages such as English, Hindi, Arabic, German, Galician, or Marathi. He has participated in numerous literary events, book fairs, and renowned poetry festivals. Currently, he resides in New Delhi, where he is a Spanish professor at the Cervantes Institute.
