«I think everything is very legal, according to the information we have in this house,» highlights the head of the Galician business association
The president of the Galician Business Confederation (CEG), Juan Vieites, supports Galician businessman César Blanco, affected by a tax investigation, and part of the team of the new president of Cepyme, Ángela de Miguel.
«What we support is the candidate we had here. The tax issues will have to be resolved by the company itself. I believe that in this regard, the company’s legal services are working on it and I think everything is very legal, according to the information we have in this house,» Vieites stated, in response to questions from journalists on this matter.
In this sense, he specified that what the Galician business association supports «is the candidate» that was «placed there, in Cepyme, in defense of the interests not only of the CEG, but also of the Galician provinces, because it had the backing of all of them.»
Specifically, ‘eldiario.es’ reported that the State Tax Administration Agency is investigating contracts awarded by the CEOE business association to two companies owned by Galician businessman César Blanco, a member of the board of directors of the association and a former leader of the PP in Ourense under José Manuel Baltar.
«UNITED ORGANIZATION»
Apart from this, the highest representative of Galician entrepreneurs emphasized the importance of Cepyme being «a useful, united organization that defends the interests of entrepreneurs.»
Therefore, he valued «that union with the CEOE in the appropriate strategies to be competitive,» which he also sees as «fundamental.» «That is the work that the new president has to do,» he pointed out.
De Miguel was the alternative candidate that the president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, launched and sponsored to compete with Gerardo Cuerva, as in recent months the presidents of both business associations had grown apart.
This Thursday, in statements to the media prior to an event on tariffs, Juan Vieites, who received De Miguel 10 days ago to show her his support accompanied by César Blanco and other leaders of the CEG, encouraged her to work in favor of public-private collaboration, «consensus,» on «well-prepared studies,» and «always with social dialogue with trade unions.»
