Amistat, the Australian twin brother duo known for their vocal harmonies and intimate style that combines folk-pop and direct emotion, will perform at Teatro Colón on the upcoming Friday, November 21st (9:00 pm) as part of the Intermodal music series, supported by the City Council of A Coruña. This will mark their debut in Galicia.
Within the same series, Mariza will also visit the city, one of the great references of Portuguese fado and one of the most applauded stars of World Music. She will perform on December 7th at the Palacio da Ópera.
«From Inés Rey’s Government, we continue to promote unique music performances in our city, bringing internationally renowned artists that are not often seen in many cities at the national level, as is the case here,» said Gonzalo Castro, Councilor for Culture and Tourism. Tickets for the concerts are now on sale through Ataquilla and at the ticket office in Plaza de Ourense. On the day of the event, if there are still available seats, the ticket office at the venue will also be open.
Amistat
The twin brothers Josef and Jan Prasil were born in Germany but grew up in Italy. Their parents have roots in the Czech Republic and Australia. Seeking to advance their musical careers, they later moved to Australia. In 2019, the duo decided to return to Europe.
Amistat’s musical identity resonates in modern soundscapes reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel, while being influenced by artists like Ben Howard, Kings of Convenience, and Kodaline. Their music comes to life on stage, offering a refuge for emotional connection, healing, and inspiration. Their vocal harmonies, shaped by their different personalities and musical inclinations, create a unique synergy best experienced in person.
Since 2012, Amistat has released six EPs and their debut album, ‘Parley’, leading them to extensive tours in Australia and Europe, including appearances at some of Australia’s most prestigious festivals such as the Woodford Folk Festival, the National Folk Festival, Fairbridge, and Nannup. The duo also won the Maton Guitar Award for Best Emerging Artist of the Year 2018 at the Port Fairy Folk Festival. In 2022, they performed over 150 concerts in less than seven months across 10 countries.
Following their successful European tour in April 2024, they return to the stage in 2025. Amistat shows us in their work the beauty of enjoying life with beautiful people, as seen in their latest album, ‘Colour in Life’, where they talk about the people we meet and the color they bring to our lives.
Mariza
With over 20 years of career, an artist who needs no introduction, Mariza embarked on a path that began discreetly, almost hidden, shared only by a small circle of admirers in Lisbon. This journey has led Mariza and her extraordinary voice to become one of the most applauded stars in the World Music scene and a true ambassador of Fado, exploring new and daring paths without ever losing sight of its essence.
No other Portuguese artist since Amália Rodrigues has built such a successful international career, with enthusiastic references from the most demanding music critics and an endless succession of international awards and distinctions.
As always, her musical companions are only the best: Jacques Morelenbaum and John Mauceri, José Merced and Miguel Poveda, Gilberto Gil and Ivan Lins, Lenny Kravitz and Sting, Cesária Évora and Tito Paris, Vanesa Martín and Sergio Dalma, Rui Veloso and Carlos do Carmo. Her repertoire, although firmly anchored in classic and contemporary Fado, has expanded to include Cape Verdean mornas, Rhythm & Blues classics, and any other melody dear to her.
