10 years of Environmental Education on Riazor Beach
For a decade now, the City Council of Coruña has been installing an Environmental Education booth on Riazor Beach with the aim of bringing activities for all ages to raise awareness about respecting the natural environment.
Current Edition
This year’s installation features an exhibition on plastic pollution in the sea, offers activities for all ages, and includes a ‘green library’ in collaboration with the Municipal Libraries.
«Celebrating 10 years with a project like this demonstrates the commitment of Mayor Inés Rey’s government to bringing environmental education to all audiences, of all ages, and in all environments,» highlighted today the Councilor for the Environment, Yoya Neira, who recalled that the booth’s programming is one of the key aspects recognized by ADEAC in awarding the blue flag to Coruña’s urban beaches.
Operating Schedule
The booth will be open during the months of July and August in the morning. There are two ways to access its activities: on one hand, anyone can approach the booth, located next to the lifeguard station on Riazor Beach, to participate in activities and workshops or borrow a book for their beach day. Additionally, it is possible to reserve group activities online via email at educacionambiental@coruna.gal.
Summer Activities
This summer, the activities offered are diverse and all revolve around respect for the sea, biodiversity, and environmental care. From games like treasure hunts to recycled material crafts workshops, all activities are led by trained Environmental Education monitors.
